Opinion: Entrepreneurship Development Ordinance is a good platform for business promotion in Belarus

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – The ordinance on entrepreneurship development is a good platform for the development of business initiative in the country, Vladimir Karyagin, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurship, told BelTA.

“The ordinance on entrepreneurship development is a good platform for the development of business initiative in the country. It is not just about entrepreneurs but in general about business initiative of all citizens,” he stressed.

According to Vladimir Karyagin, the adoption of this document indicates that business promotion and business initiative are among the priorities for the state. “This is a call of sorts to proactive people to work, to create. It shows that the state is on your side. In addition, the document will reduce various kinds of administrative procedures that inflate the cost of doing business. And finally, this is the statement to investors that the country assigns the key role to the development of business. As a rule, foreign and domestic investors take such documents seriously,” Vladimir Karyagin said.

The ordinance is the key document of the whole package of regulations aimed at improving the business environment. It systematizes all previously signed documents. “The ordinance creates a good basis for a further dialogue between business and authorities. I believe that our joint work will not end at that. In the future we expect a number of measures to support the high-tech sector of the economy, and not only this sector,” he said and added that the measures to support the Belarusian techno-parks are in the works.

On 23 November Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed Ordinance No.7 “On entrepreneurship development”. The document is supposed to give the necessary impulse to the development of business initiative, encourage the business activity of citizens, and improve the country's investment climate as a whole.
