Opinion: Business-government relations are entering a new level

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – The relations between business and the government are entering a new level, Vladimir Karyagin, the Chairman of the Minsk Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers, told the media after the meeting between Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets and businessmen on 22 January, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Karyagin, important steps have been taken to promote entrepreneurship in the country. Decree No.7 is a milestone document. “It is necessary to establish an effective dialogue between state bodies and the business community in all the regions of the country, identify common interests. This should be not just a talk, but concrete solutions. One of such meetings was held in the Minsk City Hall today,” he stated.

Vladimir Karyagin stressed that Minsk businessmen make significant contribution to the country's economy, suggest interesting programs, including those aimed at developing domestic business tourism. The Minsk Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers, together with the National Confederation of Entrepreneurship, is making a lot to promote Belarusian exports.

In his words, in small settlements there are possibilities to do business without registering as an individual entrepreneur. Associations of entrepreneurs plan to organize meetings in the regions in order to explain the latest changes in the legislation.

The meeting in the Minsk City Hall focused on problematic business matters, proposals to improve business environment, international relations and domestic business tourism, and promising areas for cooperation. A ceremony was also held to award the members of the Minsk Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers to mark the 20th anniversary of the union.
