New model to predict Belarusian economy's manpower needs as from 2019

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – The deployment of a new model to forecast manpower needs of the national economy will begin in Belarus in 2019, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Labor and Social Protection Minister Andrei Lobovich on 22 March.

Work is in progress to improve the prediction of the national economy's manpower needs. Belarus needs a new system due to the current situation on the labor market, which demonstrates misbalanced supply and demand with regard to professions and qualifications. To address the problem, in late 2015 a deputy prime minister authorized an action plan on short-term personnel training planning and on improving medium-term and long-term prediction of manpower requirements.

Taking into account international experience, a model was put together in 2016. It includes three modules: economy, labor market, and vocational training. The relevant guidelines have been prepared. Work in this area continues this year. The new manpower requirement forecast system is slated for deployment in 2019, noted Andrei Lobovich.
