NASB produces Br1.5bn worth of biotechnological products in 2016-2017

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – The organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) have produced more than Br1.5 billion worth of biotechnological products over the past two years, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Gusakov said at the Second Congress of Scientists of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“In 2016-2017 the organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus produced biotechnological products worth more than Br1.5 billion, including exports,” Vladimir Gusakov said.

Today, the National Academy of Sciences has been actively developing production cooperation. "Science is shifting to cluster organization. A number of important application-oriented clusters have been created in the fields of engineering, instrumentation, microbiology, genetics, pharmaceutics, opto- and microelectronics, and composite materials. This helps establish high-tech industries in NASB to make products, instruments, and equipment with higher value added. The task has been set to set up science-intensive manufacturing in every institute. 18 facilities of the kind have been set up over the last two years. There are approximately 85 academic manufacturing facilities of different scale,” said the chairman of the NASB Presidium.
