More public welfare homes in Belarus thanks to China's technical aid

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – The second stage of the project to build public welfare homes in Belarus using China's technical and economic aid is supposed to begin before the end of the year, BelTA learned from Yevgeniya Filimonova, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry.

The first stage of the project is over, with 16 residential houses or a total of 1,432 apartments built all over Belarus. A protocol for implementing the second stage of the project is being prepared now. Home construction will begin in 2017 to end by the end of 2018.

The second stage provides for building 22 houses or a total of 1,854 apartments. Six houses will be erected in Gomel Oblast, four houses in Vitebsk Oblast, and three houses in Brest Oblast, Mogilev Oblast, and Minsk Oblast each. Two houses will be built in Grodno Oblast and one house will be built in the city of Minsk.

The money will be allocated in line with the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental agreement of 29 September 2016. The project is supposed to improve living conditions for Belarusians in need of better housing, including low-income families. The public welfare homes will be owned by municipal government agencies. They cannot be sold, rented, or inherited.
