Minsk to host international conference Digital Banking on 19 April

MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Prospects of further digital transformation of the financial sector will be discussed during the international conference Digital Banking. The event will take place in Minsk on 19 April, BelTA learned from the Information and PR Office of the National Bank of Belarus.

The event is organized by the NBRB jointly with the Scientific and Technological Association Infopark. Partaking in the conference will be representatives of international fintech companies and experts in digital financial services from Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The National Bank will present the first achievements of the digital banking development strategy for 2016-2020. The banks will present the pilot cases of the Interbank Identification System (IIS). The participants will also discuss the application of AI technology in banking, regulatory aspects of cryptocurrencies in banking, blockchain and smart contracts technologies in the CIS, prospects of biometric documents (ID cards) in banking, possibilities of peer-to-peer transactions in the financial sector.

The increased number of users of remote banking services (RBS) indicates that digital banking is developing rapidly in Belarus. In 2016 the number of RBS users has increased by 25.9% and exceeded 4.6 million by January 2017. The number of internet-banking users made up more than 3.4 million (up by 14.2% in 2016), mobile banking users – more than 1.2 million (up by 44%). Mobile banking service for legal entities and private entrepreneurs is a growing trend in the corporate sector. The Belarusian Single Information Space (BSIS) and its automated information system (AIS) provide an example of efficient implementation of digital technologies in banking. Today AIS users can pay more than 62,000 services provided by more than 14,000 suppliers.

Established in 2015, the Digital Banking conference is annually held with the support of the NBRB. The conference provides platform to discuss the digital banking development strategy in Belarus. In 2016 the event gathered more than 200 participants.
