Minsk to host first meeting of Belarusian-Spanish intergovernmental commission 18 October

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) - The first meeting of the Belarusian-Spanish joint intergovernmental commission on economic and industrial cooperation will be held in Minsk on 18 October, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

The parties will discuss the current state and prospects for the Belarusian-Spanish cooperation in trade and investment. The parties are expected to sign the final protocol following the meeting.

The event is organized in furtherance of the agreements reached during the visit of Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei to Spain in June 2017. Then the governments of Belarus and Spain signed a memorandum of economic and industrial cooperation which envisaged the establishment of a joint commission in this area.

On behalf of Belarus the commission will be headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko, on behalf of Spain by Jose Luis Kaiser, Director General of International Commerce and Investments at the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness.
