Minsk Oblast to boost export by bigger sales of Geely cars and Stadler trains

MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – Minsk Oblast is set to increase export by selling more Geely cars and Stadler trains in 2015, Minsk Oblast Deputy Governor Alexander Turchin said at a session of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee to discuss preliminary social and economic development projections of the region for the next year, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Turchin informed that the company BelGee has already finished the first stage of the project to set up a car assembly enterprise. In 2015 the company is expected to produce 12,845 cars. BelGee is now looking for new sales markets. The most promising export destinations include Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Moldova.
As far as the export of Stadler trains is concerned, Stadler Rail Group and Russia's railway operator Aeroexpress signed a contract to supply 25 trains (118 railroad cars), 21 of which will be manufactured by the Belarusian-Swiss joint venture Stadler Minsk. The trains will be used to transport passengers to Moscow airports.

The Group of Manufacturing Technologies and Aeronautical Engineering AEROMASH will also make a contribution to the total export of Minsk Oblast. The company is completing the construction of a workshop to produce optical equipment. The investment project to start the production of drones will be implemented in 2015, which will allow the company to triple its exports.

ALUTECH Group of Companies is determined to increase the export of metal structures and products. The production of aluminum shapes has been expanded; the construction of a plant to produce gates is nearing completion. The company expects to ramp up exports to European countries, including Czechia, Poland and Germany.

Minsk Poultry Factory No. 1 will renovate the poultry slaughter and processing workshop in Dubovlyany. Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky will export semi-finished chicken and halal products.

In 2014 companies of Minsk Oblast traded with 161 countries worldwide and exported to 129 destinations. In 2015 the export is expected to grow by 6.5-7% as against 2014.

As far as the export of services is concerned, Minsk Oblast will promote both traditional services, like transportation, construction and tourism, and new types of services, like information services, financial and computer services. In 2015 the export of services is projected to grow by 7.5-8% as against 2014.
