Mechanical engineering in EEU ready for next technological paradigm shift

MOSCOW, 6 February (BelTA) – Mechanical engineering in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is preparing for transition to the next technological paradigm, Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agribusiness of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Sergei Sidorsky said when speaking at a meeting of the Integration Club under the chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, BelTA learned from the EEC press service.

“We see the EEU member states develop research institutions, introduce mechanisms that contribute to progress in the real economy. Eurasian technological platforms launch new projects, the EEU member countries set up new innovative infrastructure such as technology parks and create advanced research associations. This will help such industries as machine tool industry and mechanical engineering to shift to the next technological paradigm,” Sergei Sidorsky said.

The minister noted the importance of setting up the Eurasian center of high technology at Moscow State University. “We will be able to pool together the scientific, intellectual, technological, financial and human resources of our five countries and design cutting-edge technology,” he noted.

The participants in the meeting discussed the development of the Eurasian transport space and the prospects of building a transport route, including with the aim to align the levels of regional development in the EEU member states. According to experts of the Integration Club, the concerted effort will promote the economic cooperation in Eurasia, will improve the competitiveness of the EEU countries and will enable conditions for broadening the integration contour on the basis of the Eurasian Economic Union.
