MAZ plans to open two assembly plants in Egypt by late 2017

CAIRO, 16 January (BelTA) - Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) plans to open two assembly facilities in Egypt by the end of 2017, MAZ Director General Dmitry Katerinich told reporters during the Belarusian-Egyptian business forum in Cairo on 16 January, BelTA informs.

“First of all, there are good prospects for the delivery of haulage trucks, construction and special equipment to Egypt. For this purpose, we are eager to set up two assembly plants here: for the assembly of special equipment and, of course, freight vehicles,” Dmitry Katerinich said.

In his words, the establishment of joint ventures is mulled over by two local companies. “Today we will sign one more agreement on the delivery of $1 million worth of equipment to Egypt. I think that the assembly facilities will be operational in 2017,” the director general of the Belarusian enterprise noted.

Dmitry Katerinich added that the representative office of Minsk Automobile Plant was opened in Egypt in 2016. “We signed a dealership agreement with a local company, and exported the first 18 vehicles to Egypt at the end of the previous year. We have already built two show rooms in Alexandria and Cairo. In the future, we plan to build two more show rooms in southern Egypt. Apart from that, we have concluded several service agreements. We will develop the service network,” he said.
