Major presentation of Belarus' Hi-Tech Park, Digital Economy Development Ordinance in Seoul

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – A large-scale presentation of the Minsk-based Hi-Tech Park took place in Seoul, South Korea. Denis Aleinikov (a developer of the Digital Economy Development Ordinance, a lawyer specializing in international law) and Oleg Kondratenko (director of Light Well Organization, an IT company based in the Hi-Tech Park) talked about Belarus as an IT country during the Smart Cloud Show, BelTA has learned.

Denis Aleinikov outlined innovations of the Digital Economy Development Ordinance before the international audience. “The presentation of the Digital Economy Development Ordinance and the concept for regulating blockchain-powered business met a strong interest in Korea since its size is similar to Belarus' and the country is considering a cryptocurrency regulation concept,” said Denis Aleinikov after talking to the Korean audience during the Smart Cloud Show. “Koreans are constantly on the lookout for growth points and creative concepts for dominating the Asian market.”

Members of the Hi-Tech Park delegation met with representatives of South Korean IT corporations and the private sector, including Korea's largest IT integrator Samsung SDS and the telecommunications holding company Korea Telecom. The Belarusian delegation discussed prospects of cooperation in venture financing with representatives of the Korean Venture Capital Association (KVCA) and the Korea Venture Investment Corporation (KVIC).

Based in the Hi-Tech Park, Light Well Organization is one of Belarus' leaders in providing IT solutions for banking and public sector. The company is interested in expanding the geography of sales in Asia.

Oleg Kondratenko met with Korean colleagues. During the meeting the executive underlined: “Blockchain technology is already considered as a tool in our company. Thanks to them we've improved our performance and have considerably enhanced the resilience of our solutions in an aggressive environment. Digital reality is changing the conventional business processes while our new products are radically increasing the international competitive ability of the Belarusian IT sector.”

Organizers and participants of the IT forum showed a strong interest in the Hi-Tech Park and the Digital Economy Development Ordinance. Representatives of the South Korean law firm HMP Law met with the Hi-Tech Park delegation. During the meeting they noted that Belarus' approaches to regulating cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology had attracted serious attention on the part of Korean crypto companies.

“Korean lawyers have been thinking for a long time about how technical aspects of the blockchain economy should be stipulated in legal terms and have not found a solution for now. The definitions used by the Digital Economy Development Ordinance to describe terms and processes of the blockchain economy have caused genuine admiration among Korean experts. Participants of the IT forum have told us more than once that the Digital Economy Development Ordinance is one of the world's most advanced pieces of legislation,” said Kirill Zalessky, Head of the Public Information and International Cooperation Department of the Hi-Tech Park administration.

The Smart Cloud Show has been organized by the online mass medium ChosunBiz, which is part of South Korea's largest media holding company Chosun Media Group. The Smart Cloud Show targets representatives of major companies, experts and developers in the sphere of information technologies. The forum has gathered over 1,000 participants representing IT companies.
