Major Belarusian companies reach agreements to supply equipment to Syria

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Belarusian companies are taking part in the 59th edition of Damascus International Fair which opened in the Syrian capital on 17 August under the patronage of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Syria.

The event features companies from Belarus, Russia, China, Iran, Iraq, and other states as well as major Syrian manufacturers. The Belarusian trade mission displays the flagships of the Belarusian industry, including the truck-making company BelAZ, Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark), Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), Mogilevliftmash.

The Belarusian expo was visited by Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis. In the course of a conversation with Belarusian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Ponomarev, the Syrian prime minister expressed interest in the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, establishing strong business ties between economic entities of the two countries.

“Agreements were reached to supply Belarusian equipment and to develop strong business contacts with Syrian partners, to set out the prospects for the return of Belarusian products to the Syrian market which is traditional for us,” the embassy noted.
