Lis: International business forum Brest 2016 will yield results soon

BREST, 22 April (BelTA) – The international business forum Brest 2016 will yield results soon, Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Anatoly Lis told reporters on 22 April, BelTA has learned.

“We should implement all the agreements in the near future,” Anatoly Lis said. “I think that the results will be visible this year. Investments mean, first of all, new jobs, new enterprises with advanced technologies for us,” Anatoly Lis noted.

He stressed that the opening of the business forum Brest 2016 took pace simultaneously with a landmark event – the State of the Nation Address of the President – which focused on the development of foreign policy ties, raising the inflow of investments. “I am very glad to see the Ambassador of China with the delegation, representatives of the Russian Federation, the European Union at the forum. This testifies to the fact that Belarus, particularly Brest Oblast, is interesting for potential investors. We must use this advantage,” the governor said.

Preliminary figures indicate that investors have already expressed interest in 19 objects in Brest Oblast which were on display at the forum. A memorandum of understanding was signed between Brest Oblast of Belarus and Burgas Province of Bulgaria on 22 April. The implementation of agreements will bolster bilateral ties in tourism. “We are planning to open tourist routes, including aviation ones, to attract tourists from Bulgaria and popularize recreation in Bulgaria among our people. Besides, Bulgaria's pharmaceutical industry is vigorously developing, and we are interested in the development of this area too. We will discuss the possibility to open such an enterprise at the free economic zone today,” Anatoly Lis stressed.

The 1st international business forum Brest 2016 is held in Brest on 21-22 April. Partaking in the event are the representatives of more than 30 countries. The forum showcases the investment potential of Brest Oblast. It is organized by the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, the Brest department of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
