Lipetsk Oblast shows interest in more food supplies from Belarus

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Lipetsk Oblast of the Russian Federation is interested in expanding food supplies from Belarus. Cooperation prospects in the area were discussed during the official visit of the delegation from Lipetsk Oblast led by Deputy Head of the Administration Andrei Kozoderov to Belarus on 3-6 October, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade.

The delegation of Lipetsk Oblast got familiar with the Belarusian technologies of road construction and repair, the cooperative procurement system. “Members of the delegation expressed interest in expanding food supplies from Belarus,” the press service said.

On 4 October the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade held a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Lipetsk Oblast with the participation of interested representatives of the Belarusian government bodies and organizations. The parties discussed the progress made in the implementation of the action plan on the development of trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation for 2016-2017. The talks were also held in the Industry Ministry, Transport Ministry, Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies, and the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University.

In January-July 2016 the trade between Belarus and Lipetsk Oblast went up 8% over the same period last year to total $124.7 million.
