Jiang Ping: Cooperation agreement will take Minsk-Shanghai partnership to a new level

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) - The signing of the cooperation agreement between Minsk and Shanghai is very important for closer trade exchange and specific projects, Jiang Ping, Director of the Counselors' Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, said at a meeting in the Minsk city administration on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

Minsk and Shanghai will sign a cooperation agreement at China International import Expo due in Shanghai in November. “It will provide a platform for the development of our relations in all areas. The signing of the agreement is an important step at the level of the cities. It is our duty to build relationships in order to achieve more concrete objectives and help our businesses find a good trading partner,” Jiang Ping said.

A delegation of the Counselors' Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government is in Minsk on a visit. The head of the delegation noted that the program of the visit is related to the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative. “I would like to commend the work of the Great Stone park. This is one of the important points on this path,” said Jiang Ping. The guests are set to visit the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone to explore the companies operating there and projects for the further advancement of partnership.

“We host many Chinese companies operating in the automotive, electronics, light industry, etc. We will be happy to see our country, including the Great Stone park, to become a platform, a bridge to facilitate China's trade with European countries,” Minsk Vice Mayor Viktor Laptev said.

During the meeting in the Minsk City Hall the Chinese delegation received a complete list of investment proposals of the Belarusian capital.

The first China International Import Expo will take place on 5-10 November. Belarus' stand in Shanghai will showcase Minsk companies: MAZ, MTZ, Minskkhlebprom, Kommunarka, Minotel, Hotel d'Europe, Aqua Minsk Hotel, Belorussky Sputnik, the Minsk Information and Tourism Center. The Belarusian pavilion will also feature companies of the IT sector, representatives of the Hi-Tech Park, FEZ Minsk and the Minsk Technopark.
