MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – The possibility of setting up an enterprise in Namibia to assemble tractors made by the Belarusian tractor factory MTZ was discussed during negotiations at premises of the Belarusian company in Minsk on 24 October, BelTA has learned.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed interest in the possibility. She noted that Namibia is now focused on developing its agriculture, including small-scale farming. The country's soils have been analyzed to determine what tractors Namibia needs. This is why compact tractors, including tractors made by the Belarusian tractor factory MTZ, caught the interest of the Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia.
A representative of the Agriculture and Water Resources Department of Namibia mentioned specific figures that reflect the country's intention to buy vehicles for the sake of implementing government programs on increasing food production in Namibia.
During the meeting Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky noted Belarus was ready to take a close look at the idea of setting up the tractor assembly enterprise in Namibia. He suggested selling a batch of ready-made machines first for the sake of studying the demand for Belarusian tractors among Namibian farmers.
