Industry minister urges effective cooperation between industry and science

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Effective collaboration is expected from industry and science, Belarus Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk said when opening the meeting on the development of the machine-building industry as part of the program of cooperation between the Industry Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences. “Today the industry cannot exist without science. Science cannot develop without industry either. We need to work together, and move forward complementing each other,” Vitaly Vovk emphasized.

The most important avenue of cooperation is the implementation of scientific solutions into the manufacturing process. Since 2007, the Industry Ministry has been submitting its suggestions for the Interdisciplinary Book issued by the Education Ministry on the most relevant technology and production goals in various sectors. In 2016, the ministry drawn up 22 urgent tasks that require assistance from the science. Today the list contains 46 tasks.

The meeting also discussed the topical issues related to the development of the machine-building industry, the basic mechanisms of implementing scientific and technical programs, and the prospects for strengthening the interaction between manufacturers and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
