Governor: Brest Oblast will continue developing ties with Russian regions

BREST, 19 June (BelTA) - Brest Oblast intends to further develop all-round cooperation with regions of Russia, Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Anatoly Lis told the media on 17 June.

“Brest Oblast maintains active ties with regions of Russia. We have established a good relationship with more than 80 Russian regions. We have signed agreements on cooperation with 22 of them. The most active partner is Kaliningrad Oblast. I went there a few times, their governor visited us. This also applies to Moscow Oblast, Moscow, St. Petersburg where we work actively, and also to Bryansk Oblast and Smolensk Oblast. At the fourth forum of regions we plan to sign a cooperation agreement with Penza Oblast and prolong the agreement with Bryansk Oblast for 2017-2019,” Anatoly Lis said.

The governor noted that the interest on the part of Russian regions in Brest Oblast is quite high. This is not only about economic ties. The Russian regions actively promote ties in culture, tourism and sport. “We will continue to further develop all-round cooperation,” he stressed.

The fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Moscow on 29-30 June. The industrial potential of Brest Oblast will be represented by seven major enterprises: Savushkin Product dairy, Bereza meat-canning plant, Beresteisky Pekar bakery, Malorita vegetable drying plant and the joint venture Santa Bremor and also the Baranovichi Cotton Production Association and the Pinsk association Polesie. Representatives of Brest Oblast are set to sign several major commercial contracts with Russian counterparts during the Forum of Regions in Moscow.
