Gomel Economic Forum to gather representatives of 15 countries

GOMEL, 19 May (BelTA) – Taking part in the Gomel Economic Forum, which is due in the oblast center on 19 May, will be almost 700 representatives of 15 countries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

Among them will be representatives of embassies, official delegations, banking and financial institutions and businessmen. Attending the event will be the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Serbia, and Ukraine, delegations of Serbia's Vojvodina, Poland's Lubuskie Province, Kazakhstan's Atyrau Region, Ukraine's Chernigov Oblast, and also Bryansk, Orenburg, Kursk and other oblasts of the Russian Federation. Over 150 people will be representing foreign business companies.

The forum will feature 155 investment projects, 137 property units for doing business and 191 land plots for acquisition. The Gomel forum will feature 14 scientific projects for joint implementation. Cooperation will be mainly suggested in the following areas: economy, tourism, energy, woodworking, agriculture.

Ten documents, including two agreements and eight memorandums of understanding, are expected to be signed as part of a plenary session.

The forum events will be divided into sections: agriculture, construction and utilities sector, logistics and trade, small and medium-sized business, tourism. The Initiative-Innovations-Investment section will be held for the first time. Potential partners in the tourism sector will be offered a familiarization tour around the main sights of Gomel Oblast.

The Gomel Economic Forum was first held in 2004.
