German company to build three solar power plants in Mogilev Oblast

MOGILEV, 26 May (BelTA) – The German company Interregional Energy Company GmbH will build three solar power plants and a biogas complex in Kostyukovichi District, BelTA learned from representatives of the Economy Committee of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.

Belarus and the German company have signed two investment contracts worth a total of Br85 billion. These projects provide for building three photovoltaic power plants with the total output capacity of 4.5MW (1.5MW each) and a biogas complex in the village of Nizki to generate electricity and heating energy with the output capacity of up to 1MW by 2017. At least seven jobs will be created to man these facilities.

Over Br26 billion — foreign loans and loans of non-residents of Belarus — has already been invested in the project to build the power plants. The first 1.5MW power plant is supposed to be commissioned in July 2016. The project to build the biogas complex is in the design phase. According to the source, these projects are intended to create sources of cheap environmentally friendly renewable energy in Kostyukovichi District. Their commissioning will satisfy Kostyukovichi's demand for electricity in full and the demand for heating energy partially. Excessive electricity will be sold to the national power grid.

BelTA has been told that Interregional Energy Company GmbH has a long record of implementing similar projects. Part of TES DKM Group, the company is a resident of Germany and supplies equipment for cogeneration plants from the European Union, including using trade finance instruments against guarantees of the German export agency HERMES. TES DKM Group builds proprietary power plants in the Republic of Belarus with assistance of Interregional Energy Company GmbH.
