Foreign trade in EAEU up by 27.8% in H1

MOSCOW, 23 August (BelTA) – In H1 2017 the foreign trade in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) rose by $63.5 billion or 27.8% from the same period of last year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

In H1 exports of goods to third countries increased by 29.6% (by $41.6 billion), imports went by 24.9% ($21.9 billion). The surplus of foreign trade in goods increased from $52.1 billion in January-June 2016 to $71.8 billion in January-June 2017.

In H1 the trade of the EAEU member states with third countries reached $292.2 billion ($182 billion in export, $110.2 billion in import).

In January-June 2017 the mutual trade of the EAEU member states surged by 27% ($5.3 billion) compared to January-June of 2016. The trade in metals and products made from them increased most of all - by 1.6 times ($1.2 billion). An increase was registered in the mutual trade in machinery, equipment and vehicles (by 36.5% or $1.1 billion), food and agricultural raw materials (by 22.7% or $730 million), mineral products (by 18.6% or $1.1 billion).

The mutual trade in the Eurasian Economic Union amounted to $25.1 billion in January-June 2017.

“The mutual and foreign trade in goods in the EAEU was growing throughout the first half of this year, which reflects a sustained economic growth in the countries of the union,” the EEC said.
