First container train with Belarusian sawn timber off to China

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – The first export container train with sawn timber has left Belarus for China, the Belarusian Railways press service told BelTA.

The train consists of 46 large-capacity 40-foot containers carrying freight of the woodworking company OOO Stolindrev. The train departed from the Goryn Station, Brest Oblast on 5 November. It is expected to reach the destination station Tuanjiecun in Chongqing, China within 12-14 days. By the way, it would take about 40 days to deliver the freight to China by sea.

The train service was arranged by the state enterprise Belintertrans – Transport-Logistics Center of Belarusian Railways and the Chinese company Chongqing Valosha Trading Ltd within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. The new route for container train service helps bolster trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and China, the Belarusian Railways press service noted.
