First Belarusian-Chinese automobile crane assembled in Mogilev

MOGILEV, 17 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese joint venture Zoomlion-MAZ has assembled the first automobile crane with the lifting capacity of 25 tonnes using spare premises of the Mogilevtransmash factory, the company's Director Yuri Pivovarov told BelTA.

The first utility vehicle was assembled using the semi knocked down (SKD) assembly approach: Chinese mounted equipment was put on top of a MAZ-made chassis. The ZMC-25 model is a medium-size automobile crane. It will be able to lift objects weighing up to 25 tonnes and can be used for moving virtually any items starting with containers and ending with outsized construction cargoes.

The automobile crane boasts an ovoid-section lifting arm 33m long. The section is meant to evenly spread the tension, making the vehicle more stable and reliable as a result. Apart from that, the automobile crane uses one of the best chassis in the CIS. It is made by the Minsk-based automobile engineering company MAZ.

Yuri Pivovarov described the production of the first vehicle as a milestone event. “We are now in the active phase of manufacturing Belarusian-Chinese vehicles. Zoomlion-MAZ continues working on new models, which will become available in the next few months. In essence it is Belarus' first automobile crane with foreign-made mounted equipment,” said the director of the joint venture.

The ZMC-25 automobile cranes will be made for the Eurasian Economic Union. They are virtually unique in the post-Soviet space as far as value for money ratio is concerned.

“At present our key goal is to prepare the manufacturing facilities and all the necessary documents for making new vehicles in order to start their batch production in 2018. We intend to increase the production of utility vehicles at the Mogilevtransmash factory by several times within the next five to six years,” said Yuri Pivovarov.

OOO Zoomlion-MAZ was registered in Mogilev in February 2017 where the utility vehicles are made using spare premises of the Mogilevtransmash factory. The main kinds of merchandise include automobile cranes, concrete pump trucks, mixer trucks, and municipal utility vehicles. There are plans to export most of the output.
