Fine conditions for Eurasian Economic Union Court in Belarus

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Belarus has enabled excellent conditions for the operation of the Eurasian Economic Union Court, BelTA learned from Alexander Fedortsov, Presiding Judge of the Eurasian Economic Union Court, on 29 April.

The court is now located in Minsk's downtown. The building is fitted out with modern equipment. Belarus has enabled all the necessary conditions for the court's personnel to live and work in the country, noted the official.

The Eurasian Economic Union Court is in demand as an international justice body. So far the court has received eleven petitions, with six of them accepted. According to Alexander Fedortsov, a petition for clarification and two petitions of appeal are under consideration in the court now. This year the court has already issued two rulings on petitions filed by economic entities. “The conditions Belarus enables also contribute to the routine operation of the court,” said Alexander Fedortsov.

The agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Belarus on terms of the EEU Court's stay in the country was signed in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 29 April. Apart from the court's operational conditions the document specifies rights and immunities of participants of court procedures.

The Eurasian Economic Union Court is a permanent court body of the Union. The Court has been established for the sake of ensuring the uniform application of international treaties and other binding international legal documents by the Eurasian Economic Union member states and agencies. EEU member states are encouraged to appeal to the Court if they believe an EEU agency has made a wrongful decision or other EEU member states fail to comply with the international agreements and documents, which are in effect in the integration association. Companies are also encouraged to appeal to the Court if they believe some EEU regulations negatively affect or violate their rights and legal interests. The Eurasian Economic Union Court has been established in line with the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty of 29 May 2014.
