Fifth Belarusian-Russian forum of regions expected to produce solid economic effect

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) - The amount of export contracts to be signed at the Fifth Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus will not be lower than last year, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the close of the spring session of the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament, BelTA has learned.

The speaker noted that not much time is left before the already traditional Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus. "The importance of this event was highlighted by the Belarusian president, the chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Belarus-Russia Union State during the session of the council on 19 June. Heads of state Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin are expected to attend the forum due in Mogilev on 12 October. There is still a lot of work ahead. However, I am sure that the organizing committee will ensure a high organizational level of the event and the amount of export contracts will not be lower than in previous years," Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

Summing up the results of the spring session, the Chairman of the Council of the Republic recalled that the upper house took note of the three presidential ordinances, including those on employment promotion and digital economy, approved 38 draft laws that implement the initiatives of the Council of the Republic. There were about 70 of them during the sixth convocation.

Speaking about international cooperation of the Council of Republic, Mikhail Myasnikovich said that it was intensive, rich and productive during the sessional period. Belarus hosted the parliamentary delegations of Bulgaria, Korea, France, the Czech Republic. Parliamentary delegations of Uzbekistan and the UK visited Belarus for the first time in the history of bilateral relations. “Interest of foreign parliamentarians in the work of the Council of the Republic is increasing. This is very encouraging. Yet this also places additional responsibility for the results of our activity. Our foreign colleagues have received a lot of interesting information first hand. They made sure that Belarus is a modern democratic state, whose main concern is the interests of people,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
