Eurasian Week Forum & Expo kicks off in Russia's Skolkovo

MOSCOW, 26 October (BelTA) – The first Eurasian Week Forum & Expo, which is designed to be held annually by the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states, is about to kick off at the TechnoPark of Russia's Skolkovo Innovation Center on 26 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

“The prime ministers of the EEU member states made the decision to hold the forum every year in 2015. The event is designed to serve as a platform for businessmen, experts and government officials of the EEU member states and third countries to discuss relevant aspects of economic cooperation in the face of new global challenges and jointly develop strategic solutions,” the press service said.

The forum will run for three days. This year's edition of the event is focused on the EEU in the global innovation agenda. The business program includes events to discuss matters related to the development of Eurasian technological platforms, strategies for further formation of single markets in the EEU, ways to strengthen manufacturing cooperation among the companies of the union and boost high-tech exports. The forum will also consider the potential and real prospects of the EEU as a player in the global high-technology market.

“The events of the forum aim to encourage a dialogue that would involve the national government agencies of the member states, the Eurasian Economic Commission, businessmen, and international experts. The forum will help us intensify the business ties with regulators and entrepreneurs from third countries that cooperate with the EEU in different fields, including innovations. The list includes Israel, South Korea, Singapore, China, India, Vietnam, Egypt, Iran, Chile, and the countries of the European Union, MERCOSUR and ASEAN,” the press service added.

The Eurasian Week Forum & Expo 2016 will be held as part of the Open Innovations Forum. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will attend its opening ceremony.
