EU to allocate Brest customs around €228,000 on weighing equipment

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - The European Union will allocate the Brest customs around €228,000 to install weighing equipment at the road border checkpoint Domachevo, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

The grant contract for the international technical assistance project "Improvement of customs control efficiency at the road border checkpoint Domachevo" was signed between the Brest customs and the Ministry of Investments and Economic Development of the Republic of Poland on behalf of the European Union.

The Brest customs is the lead beneficiary of the project. The European Union will contribute about €228,000. This project involves the installation of the weighing equipment at the road border checkpoint Domachevo.

The project will contribute to the fight against organized crime, combating attempts to violate the customs legislation, strengthening security at the border. As a result, it is expected to reduce the time of customs operations, as well as improving the quality of customs control, the press service of the State Customs Control said.
