Egyptian businessman eager to sell, make Belarusian MAZ vehicles

CAIRO, 15 January (BelTA) – The Egyptian businessman Ahmed Aboduh intends to open five showrooms to sell vehicles made by the Belarusian company MAZ. In the future the businessman intends to take part in projects to start manufacturing MAZ vehicles in Egypt, BelTA has learned.

According to the source, MAZ vehicles have been sold to the Egyptian military for a long time, however, other potential buyers started taking interest in the vehicles with time.

“One year ago we got in touch with the management of Minsk Automobile Plant and the company's representative office in Egypt in order to arrange commercial sales of the vehicles in the country. In April 2016 we became a distributor of MAZ vehicles. By June 2017 we intend to open five showrooms that will satisfy needs of the entire Egypt,” said Ahmed Aboduh.

In his words, the first few samples of Belarusian vehicles will soon be shipped to their owners — major Egyptian and foreign companies. “We have signed many contracts with several companies. They are already getting the first few shipments. One of the companies is a large cement mill,” noted the businessman. “We have signed contracts to deliver MAZ vehicles till March.”

The businessman added that the sides are discussing the possibility of setting up a joint venture to make MAZ vehicles in Egypt. It would allow the Belarusian company to sell MAZ products in other countries of the region, too. “If everything goes well, an enterprise to assemble MAZ vehicles will be established in Egypt by the end of the year,” concluded Ahmed Aboduh.
