MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – The effectiveness of the Belarusian toll road system is estimated at 99%. Belarusian First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Alexei Avramenko made the statement in an answer to questions asked by MPs during the joint session of both chambers of the parliament on 27 May, BelTA has learned.
The Transport and Communications Ministry representative noted: “In August it will be three years since the BelToll system started working in Belarus. We have no complaints about the system's effectiveness, which is now estimated at 99%.”
In his words, the system is expected to earn Br670 billion for the central state budget in 2016. “In August we will start repaying the investments made by the Austrian partners — €120 million. The correlation of budget revenues and the money spent to repay the principal debt will be changed considerably,” explained the First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister.
Alexei Avramenko noted that traffic on transit motorways dropped early this year. “We saw a considerable decrease in January-February — up to 15%. But now the road toll is collected according to the plans. There are no problems,” he assured.
