EEU member states urged to look for additional ways of cooperation

ASTANA, 31 May (BelTA) - In the face of the global economic crisis the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states need to look for additional ways to cooperate, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said when speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana.

“The negative developments in the global economy are a test for all of us and require a more coordinated work in the Eurasian Economic Union. Our commission, governments, all of us must seek out opportunities and find additional ways of cooperation in these difficult circumstances when we are experiencing a sharp decline of mutual trade,” Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

Kazakhstan's President stressed that cooperation within the framework of the associations helps consolidate resources, create favorable conditions for joint economic development.

“The agenda of today's session is full. It contains the issues of both internal interaction and international cooperation. In this context, I would like to note the importance of the issues that we have already discussed during the restricted-attendance meeting. Firstly, these are the establishment of cooperation between the EU and EEU, the launch of the negotiation with China. In general, the decisions adopted today should give an additional impetus to both Eurasian Economic Union and economic ties between the member states,” Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev added.
