EEC minister: EU partners show interest in EAEU

MOSCOW, 12 October (BelTA) – Partners from the European Union are showing increasing interest in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrei Slepnev told a press conference held on 12 October to highlight the 14th Eurasian Economic Forum which is due to take place in Verona, Italy on 28-29 October, BelTA has learned.

“As for the relations with the EU, we have noticed a growing interest on part of the EU partners. We have just had full-fledged consultations. We have discussed the climate, technical regulations, digital corridors - a whole range of processes. I believe there are prospects,” Andrei Slepnev stressed.

Speaking about the forthcoming forum in Verona, the EEC minister said that this event remains almost the only platform in Europe for politicians and businessmen from different countries to discuss interaction between EAEU and EU. In his opinion, the forum should touch upon such topics as energy markets, instability of oil and gas prices and its influence on the rest of the economy, climate change agenda, problems connected with the digital revolution. “We need to understand whether we are competitors in this conversation or complement each other,” Andrei Slepnev said.
