EEC Council approves roadmaps for trade with Iran, China

MOSCOW, 18 September (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council approved the roadmaps to implement the interim agreement on a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran and the agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and China, BelTA learned from the EEC press service.

"Both agreements were signed at the Astana Economic Forum on 17 May. The EEC has drawn up the lists of activities to ensure technical conditions for the documents to come into force and become a starting point for implementing the agenda of the agreements in different areas,” the press service said.

By the end of this year the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council plans to make decisions on whether or not the roadmaps will be mandatory for the EAEU member states.

"Cooperation across multiple economic sectors, reducing non-tariff barriers in certain areas are the main objectives of cooperation with China. Plans are in place to agree on a comprehensive agreement with Iran within the next three years. In the future it will cover almost all commodity groups," the EEC said.
