Economy minister: Prices in Belarus will remain intact

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Prices in Belarus are not expected to go up, Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky said in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“We have decided to keep the prices intact unless there is an urgent need, as the competition is crucial for the market. We are closely monitoring the situation. The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) of Belarus is responsible for the formation of prices in the country,” the minister stressed.

In his words, Belarus expects a good harvest this year. “Prices for products will vary within the range that has already been set,” the economy minister said.

Vladimir Zinovsky added that by the end of the year the country's agriculture should make headway on the back of other economic sectors. “The results will not be seen in August. However, there is every chance that our agriculture will meet the projected targets by the end of the year,” the minister said.
