Dobrynina: Belarus' national budget 2018 will be balanced, focused on economy

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarus' national budget 2018 will be balanced and will be focused on the development of the economy, Lyudmila Dobrynina, the chairperson of the permanent commission for budget and finance at the House of Representatives, told the media on 18 May, BelTA has learned.

“The budget will be balanced, focused on the development of the economy, investment and innovation, the fulfillment of the main obligations to the population, and also the common tasks facing the economy,” the MP said.

She recalled that the country has identified measures to be taken in the fiscal and tax policies. They are stipulated in the country's social and economic development program. “These are the objectives we should be moving toward without increasing the tax burden,” Lyudmila Dobrynina said.

She noted that it is necessary to search for reserves in the economy. Without an increase in budget revenues it will be hard to fulfill the obligations, above all, the commitment to increase wages in the public sector and implement the programs with government support. “So we need to work on the development of the economy and increasing the revenue,” Lyudmila Dobrynina said.

The work on the draft national budget 2018 is already underway. The MPs are working as part of the interdepartmental group on the social an economic development, fiscal and tax policies.

The House of Representatives of the National Assembly is holding a workshop on the budgetary process in the Republic of Belarus. Attending it are MPs, representatives of the Finance Ministry, the Economy Ministry, the Taxes and Duties Ministry, and the State Control Committee.
