Customs data exchange to expedite goods delivery from Vietnam to EEU

MOSCOW, 10 March (BelTA) – The exchange of customs information will expedite customs procedures for the goods transported between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union countries. Hanoi hosted the first round of talks between representatives of the customs Services of Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union on the main principles of the customs data exchange, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

The agreement on the exchange of customs information was reached as part of the free trade agreement between the two parties. The first stage will envisage the electronic information exchange between separate customs bodies on particular types of commodities transported between the EEU member states and Vietnam.

“There is a need to expedite the information coordination process for the electronic exchange. The parties agreed to conduct talks on the matter every quarter. It is an optimal regime for establishing efficient information cooperation,” said Baktybek Baiserkeyev, Director of the EEC Customs Infrastructure Department, who led the delegation.

Vietnam is the second country with which the EEU establishes the electronic exchange of customs information. A number of talks were held with China to sign an agreement on information exchange on goods and international carriage across the customs borders of the EEU and China.
