CIFAL's participation in Minsk airport's second runway project discussed

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Ways of cooperation with the French company CIFAL Group for the sake of building the second runway in the National Airport Minsk have been discussed in the Belarusian government. The information was released by the Belarus government's press service after Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin met with Jurgen Krahn, CEO of CIFAL SA, which is a division of CIFAL Group.

During the meeting results of CIFAL's participation in the implementation of investment projects meant to build up the infrastructure of the Belarusian transport industry were discussed. In particular, possible ways of cooperation in building the second runway in the National Airport Minsk were considered.

BelTA reported earlier that preparations for building the second runway in the airport are supposed to start soon. The second runway is primarily meant as a spare one. The second runway is supposed to allow a major overhaul of the first runway. The new runway will be able to land any kind of aircraft, including Airbus A380, the world's heaviest passenger aircraft.

During the meeting Anatoly Kalinin noted that the Belarusian side was interested in European investments for the sake of implementing essential and high-tech projects in the country. The Deputy Prime Minister also handed over presentation materials concerning the reconstruction of the M10 motorway (the Russian border – Gomel - Kobrin) on public private partnership principles. As part of the project the concession of the motorway for up to 15 years will be granted.
