Chinese money for home construction in Brest Oblast

BREST, 2 February (BelTA) – Social homes will be built in Brest Oblast using Chinese investments, BelTA learned from representatives of the Architecture and Construction Committee of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

The homes will be built in new residential areas in Brest and Pinsk. Two 80-apartment houses based on the bearing-wall construction technology will be built in each city. The social homes will not require interior decoration once they are done. Construction operations are supposed to begin in April 2016. Chinese companies will act as the general contractor while Belarusian companies will take care of construction and installation operations.

Anatoly Kuprash, Director of the Brest Oblast Office for Capital Construction, told BelTA that the tender to choose the general contractor will be chosen soon. As many as six Chinese companies are vying for the position. The buildings will be erected using a proprietary design of the Brest Oblast civil engineering company Brestzhilstroy.

In accordance with instructions of the central government plans have been made to build at least 8,800m2 of social housing in Brest Oblast in 2016. A total of 540,000m2 of housing is supposed to be commissioned in the region in 2016.

Apart from raising foreign investments for civil engineering projects the civil engineering industry is supposed to export more services. The most appealing markets include Russia, Kazakhstan, and Poland.
