China Development Bank opens office in Minsk

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) - Opening of a representative office of the China Development Bank (CDB) in Minsk will help expand financial cooperation with Belarus, CDB Vice President Liu Jin said at the official opening ceremony in Minsk on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

“Currently, the political relations between Belarus and China are characterized by a high degree of mutual trust, and the development of close cooperation between the two states has been faster than ever before. During a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on the margins of the SCO Summit in Qingdao in June this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the Belarusian-Chinese relations have entered a new phase of partnership and cooperation,” Liu Jin said.

The vice president stressed that with the active support of the leaders of the two countries, Belarus and China are jointly building the Belt and Road initiative, implementing major projects, including in the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone. “All this opens up unique opportunities and provides a wide space for practical cooperation in finances,” Liu Jin said.

Since the CDB started working in Belarus in 2007, it has been fostering financial cooperation with Belarusian partners and implementing projects in electricity, water, finance, and telecommunications.

“The opening of the Minsk Office is a step that fully confirms our confidence in the Belarusian economy and our desire to support the Belarusian-Chinese trade, economic and financial cooperation, to improve customer service,” Liu Jin noted.
