Central banks of CIS states discuss payment card market development in Belarusian Brest

MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The council of heads of the central banks of several CIS states met for a session in the Belarusian city of Brest on 24 June. During the session the sides exchanged their experience of developing the market of payment cards, BelTA learned from representatives of the Information and Public Relations Office of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus,

Participants of the meeting shared information about their accomplishments and prospects of developing banking systems, development trends of currency markets, the state of the balances of payment, and the dynamics of international reserves of their countries. Participants of the meeting also exchanged information and experience concerning the development of infrastructure of the payment card market, interaction between central banks in coordinating the methods used to calculate indicators of personal and transboundary monetary transactions, further advancement of cooperation in personnel training.

The session of the council of heads of the central banks of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Kalechits. Representatives of the Interstate Bank also took part in the session.

The next meeting will take place in Kyrgyzstan in H2 2016.
