Call to tap into economic potential of major district centers in Belarus

BORISOV, 25 July (BelTA) - The economic potential of large regional centers, including Orsha District and Borisov District, is underutilized, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said during a visiting session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers to discuss the development of Borisov District on 25 July, BelTA has learned.

“First of all, I would like to note that the visiting session of the government in Borisov District is not due to any extraordinary events or situation. The head of state instructed the government to take the necessary measures to promote the development of major district centers such as Orsha, Borisov, Baranovichi, Bobruisk. The government has set out to study the state of affairs on-site and to consider the problems during visiting sessions,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.

The problems of the district and the ways of tapping into the reserves to address social and economic challenges are addressed in an integrated manner: both in terms of production and social issues.

“In May we reviewed the situation in Orsha District. Now it is Borisov District. These are the districts with significant potential which is not fully utilized for their economic development. This work will be continued in other districts,” the premier added.
