MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – It is necessary to improve the adaptation of the Belarusian economy to external shocks, BelTA learned from Belarusian Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi on 20 August.
The official said that the head of state had given instructions to secure new quality of economic growth. External conditions have a massive effect on the Belarusian economy, this is why it is necessary to improve its resilience to external shocks. “Fluctuations of the Russian ruble have been recently affecting macroeconomic parameters. Naturally, we should reduce this dependence. If we talk about the domestic agenda and the market, the problems of excessive credit debts of Belarusian companies and the not always effective distribution of economic resources are still on the agenda and we should seriously work on them,” believes the economy minister.
The Economy Ministry's scope of work still includes interaction with the private sector, integration interaction, and economic risks and benefits of Belarus' possible accession to the World Trade Organization.
Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas presented the new minister to the Economy Ministry personnel on 20 August.
