Brest Oblast to sign agreements with Buryatia, Kaluga Oblast at Belarus-Russia forum

BREST, 11 October (BelTA) – Brest Oblast will sign cooperation agreements with Buryatia and Kaluga Oblast at the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from the economy committee of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

The interregional documents are to be signed on 12 October. The agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology and humanitarian field will be signed by Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis and Head of the Republic of Buryatia Aleksey Tsydenov. The Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the Government of Kaluga Oblast will formalize their plans to expand contacts in trade, economy, culture and social field. The cooperation document will be signed by Brest Oblast Deputy Governor Andrei Klets and Kaluga Oblast First Deputy Governor Dmitry Denisov.

Delegations of Brest Oblast and Voronezh Oblast will meet on the sidelines of the forum to discuss cooperation prospects.

“While preparing for the forum, companies from Brest Oblast and Russian economic operators signed contracts worth a total of about $58 million in June-September, up 15.3% compared with the same period a year before. During the forum in Mogilev, Baranovichi Cotton Production Amalgamation and a Russian company are expected to sign a RUB70 million agreement. Companies affiliated with Brestmyasomolprom Concern will sign contracts estimated at RUB350 million,” head of the economy committee of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Batsenko said.

Brest Oblast also presents its tourist attractions. Among the regional companies showcasing their products at the forum are Brest Meat Packing Plant, Savushkin Product, Beresteisky Pekar, Pinskdrev, Polesie, PP Polesie, Malorita Vegetable Canning Plant, Brest Distillery Belalko, Brest Stocking Mill, and Baranovichi Experimental Mechanical Plant.
