BREST, 16 June (BelTA) - Santa Bremor plans to export ice cream to China in July, director of the Belarusian seafood producer Sergei Nedbailov told a press conference on 15 June, BelTA has learned.
"This year we are planning to enter the Chinese market. For us, as for any other producer, China is a promising market. We have signed a contract and the first container will be shipped in July. I think that by the end of the year we will be able to sell more than 300 tonnes. We are also in talks with two more companies. We are planning to visit China in October, and I hope we will be able to sign a contract," Sergei Nedbailov said.
According to head of the marketing department Olesya Yelina, there are plans to supply 44 descriptions of ice cream. "We are now busy registering the trademarks on the Chinese market in order to avoid any problems in what concerns the patent law," she added.
The company representatives stressed that Santa Bremor started promoting ice cream export some two years ago. This year the first deliveries have been shipped to Canada. Ice cream produced in Brest is also supplied to the markets of Russia, Israel, Moldova, and Georgia. Ice cream export accounts for 10% of the company's total sales. The company plans to take measures to improve the situation in the near future. "I think that the exports will double by the end of 2018," Sergey Nedbailov said.
“This year we have prepared a new product specifically for the Russian market. This is Belovezhskaya Skazka, a vanilla ice cream which meets Russia's specific requirements. We are also working on the ice cream brands targeting other markets, which, as we believe, will secure us an increase in sales and exports,” she said.
The joint venture Santa Bremor is the largest multi food producer in Eastern Europe, with a separate ice cream operation. The share of ice cream in the company's total output was 8% in 2016 or 7,000 tonnes. In 2017 the company plans to increase the production of ice cream by 11% as compared to last year.
