Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations undergoing inspection for compliance with FDA requirements

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) - Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations is the first pharmaceutical company in the CIS undergoing an inspection for compliance with the FDA requirements, Evgeny Lemeshev, the head of sales and marketing at Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations, told the media, BelTA has learned.

The Borisov company was the first among the CIS pharmaceutical manufacturers to have filed documents and is currently undergoing an inspection for compliance with the GMP/FDA requirements. This is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration in charge of the quality of medicines and food additives,” Evgeny Lemeshev said.

Having an FDA certificate, an enterprise can deliver drugs under tenders to the healthcare systems of this or that country. After going through all necessary procedures, Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations will be able to supply its medicines not only to the United States. “We are primarily interested in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, because they have very high requirements to the registration documents. The availability of an international certificate is very important,” he said.

The company's share in the domestic market in physical terms is 25%. In other words, every fourth packaging bought in the country is produced in Borisov. Half of the products is manufactured for the domestic market, the other 50% is bound for export. The company sells into 25 countries, namely the CIS countries, Baltic states, the United States, Iraq, and others.

The company is set to branch into the markets of the Arabian Peninsula, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

The Borisov Plant of medical Preparations produces 280 items of medicines of 12 pharmacotherapeutic groups.
