Belorusneft starts hydraulic fracturing operations in Ukraine

GOMEL, 5 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft has started hydraulic fracturing operations in Ukrainian hydrocarbon deposits, the company's press service told BelTA.

The relevant contract was signed with Ukraine's largest natural gas extracting company UkrGasVydobuvannya, which is part of Naftogaz of Ukraine. The contract was signed after Belorusneft came out ahead of competition from Romania and Ukraine in two tenders for carrying out 50 hydraulic fracturing operations.

It is the first service contract of this scale in Ukraine for the Belarusian company. During the negotiations held after the work began the quality preparedness of the Belarusian company for fulfilling the contract and the high level of technological support for the project were mentioned. Belorusneft and UkrGasVydobuvannya also discussed the possibility of expanding Belarusian services on the Ukrainian market. Plans were made for Belorusneft to take part in the well drilling tenders and seismic surveying tenders that the partners are going to call.

UkrGasVydobuvannya is Ukraine's largest natural gas and gas condensate extracting company. The company accounts for 75% of the country's total natural gas extraction and 20% of the gas condensate and oil extraction in Ukraine.

The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
