Bellesbumprom set to increase exports by at least 10% in 2018

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – The companies affiliated with the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom plan to increase exports by not less than 10% in 2018, Bellesbumprom Chairman Yuri Nazarov told the media on 12 February, BelTA has learned.

“This year we are set to boost export by as minimum as 10%. Now the situation in the foreign markets is favorable for manufacturers. I think we will beat the 10% growth target,” Yuri Nazarov stressed.

In 2017 Bellesbumprom's total exports rose by more than 42% and amounted to $427 million.

He also noted the importance of processing wood inside the country to manufacture goods with high added value. “We need more production facilities to involve wood in the economic turnover. For example, upon reaching the designated capacity Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill will consume about 2.5 million cubic meters of pulpwood. This is a huge amount. For this we will need to bring wood from all over the country, which will entail high costs. We will therefore set up the plantations of tree plantings with defined properties,” he added.
