Belavia to increase passenger traffic by 15-20% in 2016

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – In 2016 Belavia is going to increase passenger traffic by 15-20%, Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“Charter operations are projected to decrease by somewhere 20%. But since we opened new flights and increased transit via Minsk National Airport, primarily from Russia and Ukraine and back, we are set to increase the volume of transportation (by 20% in the first quarter). We believe that by the end of the year the growth will amount to 15-20%,” Anatoly Gusarov noted.

This year Belavia will continue its policy of reducing tariffs. The company has been working on reducing the prime cost of air transportation.

On 5 May Belavia was announced winner in the Best Exporter of the Year 2015 Contest in the Transport & Logistic nomination. Major exports are air transportation, aircraft maintenance, transport sales commissions, aircraft refueling service.

Belavia is the largest air carrier in Belarus by the number of passengers and cargoes it transports. In January 2014 the Belarusian airline acquired a legal status of an open joint stock company. Belavia operates 27 aircraft, and offers regulars flights to 46 destinations in Europe and Asia. Belavia joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 1997 and the European Regions Airline Association (ERAA) in 2010. In 2015 Belavia carried over 2 million passengers.
