Belarusian steel mill BMZ to sell $40m worth of products to Ukraine in 2018

MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) plans to supply $40 million worth of products to Ukraine in 2018, the company's representatives told BelTA following Made in Belarus expo.

“As for the 2018 plans, we will probably sell 100,000 tonnes of products (around $40 million) to this market. We have ambitious plans. BMZ has a strategy for this market and hopes that the growth will continue in the medium term,” the company said.

According to the BMZ representatives, the company's growth in Ukraine peaked in 2017 when the exports grew almost six times. “The Ukrainian market has become more active, the economy has been growing. These are our neighbors with a comfortable geographical position. This is why this market is among the most promising ones for us,” BMZ clarified.

In Q1 2018, the company boosted the exports to Ukraine: reinforcing bars for construction, rolled steel for mechanical engineering, metal cord, and wire for different purposes.

Made in Belarus expo is running at the International Exhibition Center in Kiev on 10-14 April. Taking part in the exhibition are more than 50 Belarusian companies that have displayed their latest products in mechanical engineering and petrochemistry, transport and logistics, agriculture and food, light industry and tourism. The exhibition in Kiev also includes a business program with presentations of Belarusian enterprises.

Made in Belarus is organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The operator is the Belinterexpo enterprise of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event is supported by the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, government bodies and business associations of the two countries.
