Belarusian state furniture makers report strong non-CIS export figures

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Enterprises run by the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom exported 40.3% more furniture to non-CIS states in January-September 2017, the Bellesbumprom press service told BelTA.

In January-September 2017 furniture production in Belarus totaled Br696.3 million, including Br227.6 million made by Bellesbumprom enterprises or more than one third of the country's furniture output (32.7%). The top furniture producers included Pinskdrev (Br102.8 million), ZovLenEvromebel (Br34.3 million), Molodechnomebel (Br27.7 million), the Gomel-based furniture factory Progress (Br17.3 million), and Slonimmebel (Br16 million).

Bellesbumprom enterprises export 65% of the furniture they make. In January-September 2017 furniture export totaled $77.3 million, 121.1% as against the same period of last year. Furniture accounted for 25.8% of Bellesbumprom's total export. CIS states accounted for 81.1% of the total furniture export or $62.7 million (117.4% as against January-September 2016, including $48.8 million worth of furniture exported to Russia).

The export of furniture to non-CIS states rose by 40.3% in January-September 2017: from $10.4 million to $14.6 million. Sample lots of furniture were shipped to Albania, Denmark, and the UAE.

Bellesbumprom furniture is exported to 35 countries.
