MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) - Belarusian Railways will electrify the Kalinkovichy-Zhlobin section with the participation of the China National Electric Import & Export Corporation (CUEC), BelTA learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways.
Previously Belarusian Railways and CUEC implemented an investment project to electrify the railway section Gomel -Zhlobin-Osipovichi. Work was carried out with financial support of the Export-Import Bank of China.
On 7 July representatives of Belarusian Railways and CUEC signed a memorandum of further cooperation. The document says that the parties highly appreciate the progress achieved in the field of joint investment projects to electrify sections Gomel-Zhlobin and Zhlobin-Osipovichi and to renew the rolling stock of Belarusian Railways.
The main area of future interaction will be the cooperation in electrification of Belarusian Railways, including the section Kalinkovichy-Zhlobin. The parties will facilitate the speedy and high-quality implementation of the projects to electrify the section Molodechno-Gudogai-state border with Lithuania and to supply Belarusian Railways with one-section freight electric locomotives as part of the contracts that have been signed already.
In addition, CUEC undertakes to provide warranty and post-warranty service of the electric locomotives made by Datong Locomotive Factory for the entire period of their operation in Belarus.
